If you are struggling to find your way around your camera and you’re not sure what the dials do or how to get the best out of your equipment, then perhaps you would benefit from one of my training days?
I’m based in Woking, Surrey, but I will travel anywhere in the UK (if more than 200 miles from Woking this will be subject to overnight expenses) to spend a morning in your own offices/training rooms with up to four people teaching the basics of property photography, followed in the afternoon by hands-on experience using your camera equipment in one or more of your empty properties.
If you have Photoshop CS2/3/4/5 installed onto a reasonably well specified computer and you are within 100 miles of Woking, I could return the following day to show you some neat techniques to give your photos a more professional finish. If you are further from Woking than 100 miles, then it might be more sensible to agree an overnight stay.
I have extensive experience of photography for the property industry. As an ex-estate agent with nearly forty years experience, I’ve taken more photographs of houses than anyone I’ve ever known.
My training includes the practical application of the content you'll find in our Advice section. Typically this includes:
- Understanding your digital camera & the key adjustments that affect your work
- Undertanding file formats and quality settings & how they affect print or electronic distribution
- Compositions of shots - interior and exterior - the importance of angles, foreground objects and perspectives
- Use of natural lighting, property lighting and flash to create balanced photos
- How to photograph a room and capture the view outside of the window as well
- What visually sells a property & what does not!
To undertake the training you will need the following:
- A digital (SLR preferably) camera with manual and aperture priority settings
- A tripod
- A dedicated flashgun with a bounce head.

- £425 a day for up to four people
- Travel: 15 miles of Woking is included; 45p a mile thereafter.
- Overnight stays charged at cost.
